NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING

For Charter Commission

Of Johnson County, KS

You are hereby notified that a public hearing will be held, conducted by the Charter Commission of Johnson County, Kansas, on October 27, 2021, at 5:30 p.m. at the Olathe Embassy Suites by Hilton, 10401 S. Ridgeview Rd., Olathe, KS, 66061. (Olathe Conference Center- Grand Salon). “Masks are Strongly Recommended and Requested”. In addition to the opportunity to participate in person, a virtual option will be available. The purpose of the public hearing is to receive public comment on the Johnson County Home Rule Charter.

The current Home Rule Charter, which establishes the structure and governance for Johnson County, may be found at https://charter.jocogov.org/current-charter-resources . In accordance with the Home Rule Charter, a Charter Commission of 25 people is appointed every 10 years to review the Home Rule Charter and consider possible amendments or modifications that may then be placed on the ballot for Johnson County voters to consider.

Public comments will be accepted either in-person or via Zoom. Individuals wishing to speak via Zoom or In-Person, may preregister and must complete the registration form at https://charter.jocogov.org/ by Wednesday, October 27, 2021, 11:00 a.m. Also, In-Person comments will be accepted at the time of the public hearing with signup beginning at 5:00 p.m. Masks are Strongly Recommended and Requested”. Anyone wishing to submit Written comment may do so using the form found at https://charter.jocogov.org/contact . For viewing, a live broadcast will be available on the Johnson County Government Facebook Live.
